Welcome to Year 3! My name is Mr. Pretty and I am the new Year 3 class teacher at Quinton Church Primary School.
Year 3 are so excited to be part of the juniors. The children love their new classroom and we are pleased to be working hard to make it as exciting and as inviting and a representation of our work and us as a class.
We will be developing our independent learning skills and perseverance in Year 3 by having a go at new challenges and finding ways to keep going. We will continue to assess our own work as well as develop our ability to assess our peers and praise them, as well as making suggestions to develop our own learning.
Year 3 will continue to develop their writing skills as well as their Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation skills in daily Basic Skills lessons. We will be improving our mathematical procedures in daily ‘2 A Day’ activities, as well as completing our Times Tables Maths Clubs! I'm sure everyone will be getting a certificate soon enough!
Our topics for this year are The Stone Age, Transport, Egyptians, these will be exciting topics for the children and myself and I'm sure we will all love learning about them.
Homework will be set on Thursday and will need to be brought back into school on the following Tuesday. Homework will mainly include Numeracy and Literacy with a focus on the activities we have completed that week, as well as times table practise. We will also have spellings each week to test on Fridays along with the children's times tables.
If you have any questions about Year 3 life please don’t hesitate to ask me, and I look forward to meeting you all over the coming year!
